While weekending
in Palm Springs recently, I was invited
to join
Judith Chapman
(Gloria, Y&R) for lunch at her lovely
restaurant, The Vineyard Tuscan Grill
(265 S. Palm Canyon Dr). I arrived at 3
p.m., between the lunch and dinner
crowds, and Judith sat us on the front
patio so we could take advantage of the
wafting desert breezes. Once we were
settled in, she explained that we were
going to have a relaxing meal and she
wasn't kidding. For the next four hours,
we laughed and conversed, as Judith
ordered plates of "this and that." I
lost track of how many courses came out
but I do remember arugula and prosciutto
salad, an appetizer plate of grilled
shrimp and asparagus, ricotta-stuffed
ravioli, fresh spinach sautéed in
garlic, roasted chicken, rosemary
potatoes, margherita pizza baked to
crispy perfection and a dessert sampler
of chocolate soufflé, tiramisu and
pistachio ice cream. Everything was
beyond yummy and I can guarantee that
you won't be disappointed should you
ever drop by for a meal. And don't be
surprised if you see Judith bustling
around the place.

Award
winning actress, director, and resident of the Coachella Valley, JUDITH
CHAPMAN, is getting ready to hit the boards again. On January 19,
2008, Judith is bringing a cast of Emmy winning STARS from DAYTIME
TELEVISION to THE PALM CANYON THEATRE in PALM SPRINGS ,CA. for a one
night benefit performance of "THE TRIAL OF THE CATONSVILLE 9". This
compelling drama is based on an actual event in 1968 when a group
of priests, nuns and lay persons entered a Federal Building in
Catonsville, Maryland and burned selective service cards in protest
of Americas' involvement in Vietnam. All were brought to trial..."The
play is not so much about politics as about human decency" claims
Chapman.. She had seen a staged reading put on by TIM ROBBINS' group
"THE ACTORS GANG", and Judith said, "I was so profoundly moved by the
play, the message, and the commitment of the actors involved, I decided
then and there, to put together my own production using the best of the
best of Daytime...." With the help and support of Board members of "THE
ACTORS GANG", THE PALM CANYON THEATRE and her company, HAPPY HOUR
PRODUCTIONS, this exciting project, will be a first for PALM SPRINGS,
and another first for Chapman, who will also direct. Joining her on
stage will be Emmy winning actors Christian LaBlanc (Michael Baldwin,
The Young and the Restless), MICHELLE STAFFORD (Phyliss Newman, The
Young and the Restless), GREG RIKAARDT(Kevin Fisher, The Young and the
Restless), KRISTOFF ST. JOHN(Neil Winters, The Young and the Restless),
RON HALE(General Hospital), VINCENT IRIZARRY(David Chow, The Young and
the Restless)EMILY O'BRIEN(Jana, The Young and the Restless), JOHN
CALLAHAN(All My Children), DANIEL GODDARD(Cane Ashby, The Young and the
Restless)...and on it goes...The proceeds of the $60.00 ticket will go
to KIVA, and organization that makes small loans to individuals around
the world that they might grow a business and become more self
sustaining...THE PALM CANYON THEATRE had this to say..."Whenever Judith
directs or performs here, an award always follows...we are very excited
about our latest collaboration, and look forward to welcoming Hollywood
to our theatre...." There will be a catered wine reception with the cast
immediately following the performance...For ticket information call the
Box Office at 760-323-5123... Read The Press

Judith was thrilled to host CBS.com at the 2007 DAYTIME EMMYS,
conducting all the Red Carpet interviews and
Backstage "One on One"
with the winners and presenters and the loveable Bob Barker. She
interviewed her friends from other soaps as well - Theo Penghlis (Days of Our Lives),
Jackie Zeman (General Hospital), among others. That's why she wasn't on
stage for the Young and the Restless big WIN!!! |
